Oxford es una ciudad hermosa, repleta de cosas para ver y recovecos para explorar. Pero más que los edificios antiguos y realmente espectaculares, lo que más impresiona es la atmósfera que se respira. Sonará melodramático, pero se respira historia.
Me hubiera gustado quedarme mucho más y poder ver todo con más atención y detalle, pero este es el tema con estas visitas de un día: no da el tiempo para ver todo lo que a uno le gustaría. Ni cerca. Sirven para dar una idea del lugar y una base para otra visita.
I think I overdid it with the number of pictures I uploaded of my visit to Oxford on Saturday the 6th October, so I'm going to divide them in 2 or 3 batches, so that I don't overwhelm you.
Oxford is a really beautiful city, full of things to see and nooks and crannies to explore. But more than the old and truly spectacular buildings, what impressed me the most was the atmosphere. It might sound melodramatic, but you breathe history there.
I would have liked to stay much longer and be able to see everything with the attention and detail it deserved, but that's the thing with these daytrips: just not enough time to see everything one would like. Not even close. They're good to give you an idea of the place and a base for a further visit.

The coach dropped us off here, next to this church and small graveyard in a tiny square in the middle of the street. That gave us the first image of Oxford: the old.

Lo primero que hicimos fue ir directo a Christ Church, la catedral de Oxford, que además sirve como la capilla de la universidad. Esta foto es en camino, con Arturo y Marissa.
The first thing we did was go directly to Christ Church, Oxford's cathedral, which also serves as the university's chapel. This is us on our way, with Arturo and Marissa.
Y acá está la entrada de Christ Church, realmente imponente. Como resultó que recién abría unas dos horas más tarde, lo miramos y admiramos de afuera y nos fuimos a ver otras cosas mientras.
And here's the entrance to Christ Church, a really imposing building. As the opening hour turned out to be two hours away, we looked at it and admired it from the outside and then left to do other things in the meantime.

Esta es St. Mary, una iglesia en esa calle, y de las más lindas.
This is St. Mary's church, on that street. It's one of the prettiest ones.
Esto es atrás de la iglesia de St. Mary. Compramos unas baguettes y comimos sentados en el banco de piedra que se ve ahí en el medio, atrás del hombre de azul que está sentado a la mesa. No es muy obvio en la foto, pero esto es un cementerio. Vean la estructura medio abajo del hombre que mencioné... eso es una tumba.
This is behind St. Mary's church. We bought some baguettes and ate them sitting on the stone bench you see there in the middle of the picture, behind the man in blue sitting at the table. It's not obvious from the photo, but this is a graveyard. See the structure kind of under the man I mentioned... that's a tomb!
