Continuing with our tour of Manchester...
Esta fue mi área preferida de la ciudad. No sé cómo se llama, pero es el área apenas al lado de la Catedral. Hay varios pubs con pinta bien antigua, todos alrededor de un espacio central con mesas como para comer afuera, y se ve todo muy lindo. Al lado además hay una rueda gigante.
This was my favourite area that we visited in the city. I don't know what it's called, but it's right next to the Cathedral. There's a few ancient-looking pubs, all around a central space which has tables where you can eat outside, and it all looks really pretty. There's also a ferris wheel.

Y esta es la Catedral de Manchester. Fue construida a lo largo de casi 600 años (empezando en el siglo XIII), por lo que uno puede encontrar una mezcla de estilos, pero el principal es Gótico Perpendicular. Sufrió daños muy graves durante la 2a Guerra Mundial, cuando le cayó una bomba alemana, y además fue nuevamente dañada por una bomba en un ataque del IRA en 1996.
And this is Manchester Cathedral. It was built over almost 600 years (starting in the 13th century), so you can find a mix of styles there, although the main on is Gothic Perpendicular. It suffered severe damage during World War II, when it was hit by a German bomb, and it was again damaged by a bomb during an IRA attack in 1996.

The interior of the Cathedral. I think you probably can't really appreciate it in these photos, but it's decorated in a way that's very different to most I've seen, in a much more modern style. For instance, lots of fabrics, but with very contemporary designs, rather than Medieval reproductions.

La biblioteca John Rylands, fundada en honor a este hombre, un industrial muy rico del siglo XIX. Es un edificio hermoso, Gótico Victoriano.
The John Rylands library, founded in memory of this man, a very rich 19th century industrialist. It's a beautiful Gothic Victorian building.
Adentro de la biblioteca. A la izquierda se ve un retrato de la viuda de Rylands, Enriqueta, que fue quien mandó construir la obra. Había una exposición sobre su vida, que fue muy interesante.
Inside the library. To the left you can see a portrait of Enriqueta, Rylands widow, who was the one who actually had the library built. There was an exhibition about her life, which was very interesting.
Y finalmente, la biblioteca central de la ciudad. Ya para ese momento eran pasadas las 4 y hacía un frío impresionante, así que nos metimos en un pub a comer algo y ver el partido de rugby entre Inglaterra y Gales por el Six Nations, y ahí aguantamos hasta la hora de irnos, que era a las 6.
And finally, the city's central library. By that time it was past 4 and it was freezing cold, so we just went into a pub to have some dinner and watch the England-Wales rugby game for the Six Nations. We just stayed there until it was time to leave, at 6.
