After our general tour the first day and deciding what we wanted to see, our first visit on Friday was to Glasgow Cathedral, St. Mungo Cathedral. "Mungo" was what the people of the area called Kentigern, the monk who founded the city. It's "beloved friend" in Celtic.

La catedral. Las partes más viejas son del siglo XII, y es la única iglesia medieval en tierra firme escocesa que sobrevivió a la Reforma protestante.
The cathedral. The oldest parts date back from the 12th century, and it's the only medieval church in mainland Scotland to have survived the Protestant Reformation.

La necrópolis. Desde allí hay excelentes vistas de la ciudad, y pasamos una horita muy interesante leyendo las inscripciones en las tumbas más viejas.
The Necropolis. From there you have excellent views of the city, and we spent a very interesting hour reading the inscriptions on the oldest tombs.

Al lado de la Catedral está el Museo de San Mungo de la Vida y Arte Religiosos.
Next to the Cathedral is the St. Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art.
La exhibición principal, sobre diferentes aspectos de la influencia religiosa en la vida de diferentes cultures. Chiquita, pero muy interesante. El esqueleto es lo primero que ves al entrar, del Día de los Muertos en México (aunque los chicos comentaron que este en particular no parecía demasiado típico).
The main exhibit, about the different aspects of religious influence on life in different cultures. Small, but fascinating. The skeleton is the first thing you see on entering, from the Day of the Dead in Mexico (although my travelling companions mentioned this one in particular didn't seem a very typical example of them).
Luego fuimos a la Universidad de Glasgow. Al ser Viernes Santo, la mayor parte de las cosas, incluidos los museos, estaban cerrados, pero estuvimos un buen rato recorriendo.
Then we went to Glasgow University. Being Good Friday, most of the places, including the museums, were closed, but we spent a good while taking a look around the area.
